Describes the operation of the Toyota-Prius powertrain, using detailed analysis and CG animation. The Prius system is used on Ford, some Nissans and is the basis for a modern Hybrid design. At the heart of the Hybrid system is a ingenuous planetary gear system, with dual electric motors M1 and M2. These two electric motors, embedded inside the transmission, work in tandem. M1 keeps the ICE (internal combustion engine) at a steady or flat power curve by controlling the output of the ICE and M2. This is all done electronically.
